Thanks Abbey. I agree, wallowing in sadness for too long is not the way to go! But I think that rather than denying our periods of grief, or attempting to make them go away, we can embrace the experience and find meaning in what feels like an “unpleasant” and painful emotional and psychological state. To really cherish or treasure something, we usually need to feel that the thing is either in great demand or in short supply. In the case of preemptive grieving, perhaps it is the awareness of the short supply that enhances our ability to see the value of our “treasures”.
